Introduction

One of the first things that will jump out at potential buyers is that furniture made from teakwood is consistently among the most expensive. Why? The reason is that teak is valuable both for its elegance and its durability. Beyond its beauty, it also possesses some natural properties that other woods don’t have. Teak furniture is unique because it produces its own natural oil. Which makes it very low maintenance in comparison to other types of outdoor wood furniture. The main thing that this natural oil does to teakwood is that it prevents water and moisture to seep inside the wood. Thus preventing it from rotting

Teakwood care

Cleaning Teakwood furniture.

Well, when it comes to cleaning teak furniture it is very easy. For indoor furniture you just need to have a soft cloth to clean it, if the stain is hard you can use water or even mild dish soap will do the job. Mostly for indoor furniture, wet cloth is good enough to do the job. The cloth must be soft to prevent scratching the furniture.

When it comes to outdoor furniture cleaning, it may be hard sometime as it's exposed to harsh weather. You can use a brush with soft teeth and dish soap will do the job. Always keep in mind to clean and apply the brush with the grains to make it easy for cleaning without scratches.

Teak oil or teak polish (almost the same thing) is one of the best things you can use to keep your teak furniture looking new all around the year. If it is an Indoor unit applying teak oil twice a year is more than enough for what u need. When it comes to outdoor units you may apply after every 2 or 3 months time to keep the furniture in great condition.

Preservation of color

A very important topic when it come to furniture that is keep outdoors all year long. As we talked above about applying teak oil to maintain the furniture, that is true but I will not help you in retaining the golden finish that teak furniture has.
Applying certain types of sealers will do. When you buy new unit of furniture from a shop it already has a layer of sealer on it, eventually when it comes to contact with sun and rain all year long it goes come off with time.

Best to maintain is to apply one more cote maybe once a year is more then enough. Not a hard job to do, applying with a cloth like polish, yes it is to easy
